Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo holds its Inaugural Session for the term 2022-2025

The Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo, led by Vice Mayor Cynthia C. Dela Cruz, held their Inaugural Session on July 4, 2022, Monday at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall. All members were present during the maiden session namely: Hon. Phillip Y. Kimpo Jr., Hon. Christine C. Dela Cruz, Hon. William T. Lachica Jr., Hon. Matt Aaron P. Guzman, Hon. Ketchie F. Luces, Hon. Raymar A. Rebaldo, Hon. Augusto C. Tolentino, Hon. Ronald L. Marte. Liga ng mga Barangay President Nelson P. Repiedad Sr. and Sangguniang Kabataan President Romylene Joy Q. Flores were also in attendance. The session was called to order at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The members tackled the updated internal rules and procedure, as well as the composition and membership of the standing committees of the Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo for the term 2022-2025 during the session proper. The Vice Mayor Cynthia C. Dela Cruz, escorted by Sangguniang Bayan member Hon. Phillip Y. Kimpo Jr. fetched Mayor Juris B. Sucro for the presentation of plans of programs of the Local Chief Executive. In his speech, Mayor Sucro accepted the responsibility as the Chief Executive to impart and lead in making the first-class Municipality of Kalibo a competitive and progressive one. “Vision without action is hallucination. We need to put our vision into action and make our dreams into a reality to have a Bagong Kalibo,” Sucro added. Vice Mayor Dela Cruz delivered her response, saying that the council will continue to be an effective law-making body of the Municipality of Kalibo. They will strive to develop plans and projects that are geared towards the betterment of the lives of Kalibonhons. “We are assuring you of our cooperation and help. To the honorable members of the council, let us join our hands in building a better town,” Dela Cruz said. The new and re-elected SB members were also given the opportunity to deliver their privilege speeches. Hon. Kimpo Jr., who is now in his third term and is a senior councilor, will focus on his platforms for education, sports development, and increasing livelihood for a stronger economy. “We are humbled by the great amount of trust invested in us by the people. Rest assured that our efforts and performance for the past six years will be doubled for the next three years,” Kimpo said. Hon. Kimpo formally moved a motion for the passage of Resolution No. 01. The said resolution authorizes Municipal Mayor Juris B. Sucro, Municipal Vice Mayor Cynthia C. Dela Cruz, and Municipal Treasurer, Mr. Rey C. Villaruel as official signatories to all depository accounts in the Landbank of the Philippines, Development Bank of the Philippines, and the Philippines Veterans Bank for and in behalf of the Municipal Government of Kalibo. Aside from the key officials, in attendance were the department heads of LGU-Kalibo, chairpersons of the different Barangays in the Municipality, representatives from the different regional and provincial and government agencies, private organizations, friends and families of the Vice Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan members. The session was adjourned at around 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
