The Local Government Unit of Kalibo headed by Mayor Engineer Emerson S. Lachica, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, the Office of the Representative of the 1st District of Aklan and the Aklan Provincial Government awarded the DTI’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG) Livelihood Assistance Package last July 28, 2020 to 100 beneficiaries.
DTI started the implementation of a livelihood assistance program, coined Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG), this aims to provide support to micro entrepreneurs affected by calamities.
The Kalibo Public Market was razed by fire last September 15, 2019, that damage 70-80% of the market, and put Kalibo in a State of Calamity.
With DTI’s PBG Program, 100 beneficiaries from the most affected of the Kalibo Public Market stall owners were given Php 10,000 worth of goods that will help them start anew, amidst the fire incident and now the COVID19 Pandemic.
“It was like a Baptism of Fire of my administration, when ironically a fire hit the Kalibo Public Market, but you can all be assured that the Local Government of Kalibo is doing everything that we can to bring back better days,” said Mayor Emerson S. Lachica in his message.
Ms. Ma. Carmen I. Iturralde, OIC Provincial Director of DTI Aklan spearheaded the said activity, Mr. Edilberto Mcahilig represented the Office of Representative Carlito S. Marquez, also present were MEEDO Head Engr. Jessie C. Fegarido and Market Supervisor Mr. Abel Policarpio. ###
